'Tis the Season

Nothing spells holiday better than these red & whites and nobody does it like our favorite folks at White Lilac Inc. This peppermint paradise was a venue to a very festive afternoon of lunch, laughter and loads of presents.

Happy Holidays!

Meredith & Ben :: ENGAGEMENT

I especially love couples who aren’t afraid to get their feet wet (literally!) when we photograph engagement sessions.   I enjoyed hearing their love story when I first met them and seeing how they are with each other, was a joy to photograph! Malibu was the perfect backdrop for this lovely pair.  It was an overcast day all over town but we were lucky to catch some amazing winter light!

Can't wait for their fab wedding by Geller Events in April!

Pretty in pink!  I photographed little Sophia just as she was turning one.  Now this little bundle of energy is two and more adorable than ever!  Always love photographing her & spending time with one of my favorite mommies in town, Ms. Fancy That! Events...

Terren & Bryson :: ENGAGEMENT

In love in Italy!  Terren & Bryson are avid travelers.  What better way to celebrate their union than a wedding in one of their favorite places, Ravello!  Perched above the the Amalfi Coast, this beautiful town has made it to my list of favorite places.  Stunning views everywhere you turn + great food, it was a little slice of heaven...

Here's a fun afternoon photographing my fabulous couple around town.  Their wedding photos, coming soon!

Karine & Zohrab :: ENGAGEMENT

Sweetie Pie.  How appropriate for this darling pair!  One of the many good things about engagement sessions is getting to know my couples.  I love seeing how great they are with each.  Karine & Zohrab are both so sweet & so adorable.  I was happy to spend a Sunday afternoon documenting love, laughter and such sweet stories shared over pie... And the magical late afternoon light we had, just made it even better!

Can't wait to photograph their wedding and work with Fancy That! Events again this January!

Kelly & Kyle :: WEDDING

What a beautiful wedding & a beautiful couple!  Kelly & Kyle were high school sweethearts and said their I dos twelve years after they went to prom.  It was a joy to photograph!  I must say, their first dance was quite the spectacle :)  Friends and family traveled to enjoy the sunny California beaches and to celebrate with them... and they truly know how to have FUN! With live bands and an after party, there was not a dull moment at this wedding.  Loved all their amazing details - superb planning by one of our faves, Paige at

Geller Events.

Here are some of our favorites from the day...

Art is Everywhere

So I take these "artist dates" (with myself) where I go some place to find creative inspiration.   It can be the boardwalk, a museum, the farmer's market, or one of the many neighborhoods in LA.  With a camera (or iPhone) in tow, I walk around, observe, and take pictures of interesting things that catch my attention - shadows, lines, movements...  It's like a fun exercise for my creative muscles! I always come home more excited about photography and more grateful for life.

Here are some iPhone photos from my little artist date to The Getty Center.  It's amazing how you can keep going to the same place and see it differently each time.  The beauty of art, it's everywhere!

Delightful Decor!

I love, love photographing decor & details!  Whether I'm shooting for a wedding or a magazine, it makes me feel like a kid in a candy store.  The colors, the candles, the chandeliers... I feel very fortunate to work with some of the wedding industry's most creative individuals.  Here are some of my favorite reception shots from recent weddings & events.

Down time in the desert..

Documenting life has become a daily habit with the iPhone.  A trip to a new restaurant, a day at the beach, a little weekend jaunt...  Here are some Instagram favorites from a little down time in the desert last weekend.  If you're on Instagram and want to join my daily adventures, follow me @mariannelozano.

Steph & Scott :: ENGAGEMENT

Surf, sand and oh what a sweet couple!  I loved photographing Steph & Scott.  Watching them enjoy each other made it even more fun!  We shot in the most amazing, golden light and even had clouds as an added bonus.

Can't wait for their wedding next year at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel!

Little Harper

Photographing kids is one of my favorite things.  They keep me young or at least feeling young!  Just like photographing weddings, my goal is to capture instead of manufacture.  No forcing them to "say cheese" nor to sit still on a chair.   With the help of mom, we set up fun things to let them do what they do.  I'm always SO excited to come home with photos that truly capture real smiles and their cute little personalities.

Here's a fun summer afternoon with Little Miss Harper...

Mommy, Mommy's Mom & Me

What a sweet Mother's Day session!  Love being able to capture little moments like this - grandma, mom & the little one.  I look back at my own photos and these are the ones I love the most...   How precious is her little smile?!  ..and the smile she brings to everyone else around, truly priceless!

Little Olivia @ 10 months

Love watching 'em grow!  We photographed baby Olivia at 2 weeks, at 4 months and now at 10 months.  Doing a "baby's first year" package allows us to capture the little ones at their milestones.  Now she's crawling fast - I was chasing her with my camera on this fun morning at the park.

She's getting bigger & and so are her smiles!

Gina & Paul :: ENGAGEMENT

Ever wonder how many times you've crossed paths before meeting your special someone?  Gina & Paul went to the same salsa club for a year and never really met.  They must've danced a handful of times but that spark didn't happen until one day when they were out on the beach both playing a volleyball tourney...  It was a sweet story and even sweeter to hear them talk about it.  We thought it was appropriate to visit the scene-of-the-crime for their engagement photos!  Such an adorable couple, I can't wait to photograph their wedding in September!
